Bangkok Doofus?

2008 August 19

I saw the trailer for Bangkok Dangerous yesterday, but I’m just now writing about it because I had instantly forgotten about it as soon as the J.G. Wentworth opera commercial came on. 877 CASH NOW…

Annoying commercials aside, the trailer was pretty good— or at least it had the potential to be a good one. If the actor had been Jason Statham or Matt Damon (or any other badass for that matter. James McAvoy anyone?)

However, in Bangkok Dangerous, I was unhappy to see that Nicholas Cage was cast as the main character, a BA hitman. His mission: well, I’m not entirely sure. The trailer didn’t really give that much info other than he doesn’t want to get involved in a political assassination, he gets involved with a Thai woman, and he employs some random guy to be his helper.

Despite my B-movie review of the trailer, my main gripe is with Mr. Cage. Granted, he’s an excellent actor, but for me, he will forever be categorized as a nerd4life trying to be a bamf. I’m sure he’s a cool guy off the screen, but National Treasure turned him into National Nerd for me.

Now, hopefully nobody is going to give me a hard time for being such a troll. This is just my opinion, you don’t have to agree (or tell me that you disagree for that matter).

And, because I feel sorta bad…

This was really fun to draw! Notebook lines intended :)

You can go to the website here, but there isn’t really much to see other than the trailer and a little “Do-you-have-what-it-takes-to-be-a-hitman?” game. Apparently, I don’t have what it takes, but that’s fine with me.
